Strip check: compare a flight strip with its radar label

Each item shows a flight progress strip and the radar data block for the same aircraft. You decide as fast as you can whether the callsign, aircraft type and level agree. It measures perceptual speed and attention to detail.

Why it matters for ATC selection

Fast, accurate checking of this kind sits behind many reaction-time and attention tests in ATC selection, and it is a real part of the job: controllers check strips against labels all day.

How the practice works

  • Each item shows a flight progress strip and the radar data block for the same aircraft.
  • Both show the callsign, aircraft type and level. Decide whether all three agree.
  • Keys: F for Match, J for Mismatch. The test runs for 2 minutes.

The full-length test is free with an account. Every practice item is original. Full access adds feedback on where you lost marks and how to improve.

Tips

  • Check in the same order every time: callsign, type, level.
  • Read callsign digits in pairs. Transposed digits slip past whole-word reading.
  • Commit once you have checked all three. A second scan costs time and adds doubt.
